Can we self-host instead of paying?+
Yes. Point Humla at your own PocketBase server and every team feature works with no subscription — the paid tier is only the managed hosting. Self-hosting has no paywall.
Does a bot join our meetings?+
No. Humla records through macOS itself, so nothing joins the call and the other side sees nothing — the same privacy story for every person on the team.
Where does our data live?+
Notes sync through Humla Cloud (hosted in the EU) or your own server if you self-host. Audio and transcription stay on each teammate's Mac or their own provider keys — Cloud only syncs the notes.
Do teammates need a Mac?+
For now, yes — Humla runs on Apple Silicon Macs (macOS 13+). Each teammate downloads the free app and signs into the shared workspace.
Can teammates see workspace chats?+
Yes — that's the point. Chats in a shared workspace are visible to its members, so knowledge compounds instead of being asked twice. Your personal chats stay on your Mac and never sync.
