What is Two-party consent?

Two-party consent (or all-party consent) is a legal rule requiring everyone in a conversation to agree before it can be recorded.

What it means.

  • Several US states and, in effect, the EU under GDPR require all-party consent; other places allow one-party consent. This is general information, not legal advice — check the rules where you and the other party are.
